Enterprise Episode Guide - Season One Episode: 21
Detained
Mission Date: 2151/52
This particular mission shed light on the ever-elusive Suliban, and raised questions regarding the pros and cons of becoming involved in alien conflicts. Captain Archer and Ensign Mayweather woke up to find themselves in a strange prison, which appeared to be full of Suliban prisoners. The man in charge of the facility, Colonel Grat, explained the situation to them: he is Tandaran, and the two officers trespassed on a Tandaran military zone while exploring a nearby moon. Grat noted that the officers would face a hearing in three days, but as they are not Suliban, it was merely a formality. Grat also promised to contact the Enterprise about the situation. He notified Sub-commander T'Pol, and as Ensign Sato and Lt. Reed could not pinpoint the Colonel's location, T'Pol set a course for Archer and Mayweather's trial.

Later, Archer befriended a Suliban prisoner named Danik, who explained the circumstances of the Suliban. Danik was actually born in the Tandar Sector, and is not part of the Cabal. The Suliban are a nomadic race, as their homeworld became uninhabitable three hundred years ago. Unfortunately, news of the Cabal has ruined the peaceful existence of many other Suliban, and these particular people have been imprisoned by the Tandarans in internment camps. After this conversation, Grat summoned Archer to his office. Having surveyed the files onboard Archer's shuttlepod, Grat demanded that Archer share his knowledge of the Suliban. Archer refused, and was threatened with indefinite detainment. Grat contacted Enterprise and informed T'Pol that the hearing had been delayed. This time, Sato was able to trace Grat's location, and Enterprise set off to rescue their crewmen.

Back at the prison, Archer convinced Danik to help him mount an escape. He was also able to inform Enterprise of the plan, after T'Pol managed to beam a communicator into his cell. Enterprise came to Archer's aid, sending in Reed disguised as a Suliban, while Commander Tucker dropped down on the camp in a shuttlepod, destroying the outside defenses. The officers managed to successfully liberate the Suliban prisoners, but Archer was left to wonder about their chances outside the prison walls, and how his actions would affect the course of their lives.
