Enterprise Episode Guide - Season One Episode: 24
Desert Crossings
Mission Date: February 21th 2152
When Captain Archer and Commander Tucker were lured into an alien conflict, issues of interfering with other cultures came to the forefront. After aiding a charismatic alien leader named Zobral with ship repairs, Tucker and Archer were invited to a feast in their honor on his planet's surface. The two officers journeyed to Zobral's desert-like world, and enjoyed food and hospitality.

Meanwhile, the city's chancellor contacted T'Pol, and claimed that Zobral and his men are dangerous terrorists. Down on the planet, the festivities were cut short when Zobral's village was attacked, and finally the truth came out: Zobral told Archer that the chancellor's people had oppressed Zobral's people for years, and they have been fighting a losing battle for freedom. Zobral heard that some Suliban were recently liberated from a detention camp by a brave warrior named Jonathan Archer, and hoped that Archer would assist his people in their fight. Before the conversation could continue, the attack on the village intensified, sending Tucker and Archer out into the harsh desert wasteland. Onboard Enterprise, T'Pol was unable to make any progress with the chancellor, who insisted that any ships launched would be considered the enemy and fired upon. T'Pol and Ensign Sato discussed the situation, and noted the difficulties inherent to contacting new worlds. T'Pol added that the Vulcan High Command has specific protocols regarding planetary conflicts, and speculated that Archer will eventually have to come up with some directives of his own. Later, Enterprise was hailed by Zobral, who revealed that a gap in the orbital detection grid makes it possible for ships to get through. After T'Pol convinced Zobral that he was partially responsible for the situation, he agreed to help the crew find its missing officers.

On the planet, Tucker and Archer journeyed through the desert, their trek made all the more difficult when Tucker started to suffer from heat exhaustion. Luckily, Archer managed to keep his friend alive long enough for T'Pol, Lt. Reed and Zobral to locate the officers and bring them back to Enterprise. Though Archer believed Zobral's cause was worth fighting for, he ultimately knew he could not involve himself in the conflict.
