Harry Kim graduated from the Starfleet Academy in 2371 with especially promising possibilities in engineering and analytical operations, and his first assignment was as Operations Officer aboard the U.S.S. Voyager under the command of Capt. Janeway.
He is an extremely enthusiastic young man from a very close Asian family, and he sets himself very high standards and is determined to be an exemplary Starfleet Officer. Ensign Harry Kim has faced the situation of being stranded in the Delta Quadrant, so very far from home, with strength of character and courage beyond his years, and he is also earnest and very eager to please.
At Starfleet Academy he was the editor of the Academy newsletter for one full year, where his series on the mounting Maquis problem fostered much campus debate.
In his spare time, he enjoys old sword swinging stories on the holodeck, and he is also a competent musician whom plays the clarinet.
He now serves as Operations Officer aboard the U.S.S. Voyager, which was presumed to be lost in the Badlands near the space station Deep Space Nine on Stardate 48315.6, but this was proven incorrect when contact was established with the ship via an alien communication network.
